ICON Sunsuria Sdn Bhd and Avisena Healthcare Sdn Bhd are expanding access to specialist cancer care in the Klang Valley with a new Icon Oncology centre at Avisena Specialist Hospital 2 (ASH2).

The two healthcare providers have signed an operating agreement to establish the centre, which is slated to begin operations this month.

The centre will provide multidisciplinary oncology services, with a particular focus on cancers affecting women, including breast, gynaecological, colorectal and lung cancers.

It will bring together Icon Oncology’s specialist cancer care expertise and Avisena Healthcare’s hospital facilities and experience in women’s health, with services covering diagnosis, active treatment, follow-up and survivorship.

The partnership is aimed at providing more coordinated and personalised cancer care within an integrated healthcare setting, the companies said in a joint statement on Wednesday.

Sunsuria Bhd founder and executive chairman Tan Sri Datuk Ter Leong Yap said cancer is a growing health challenge for women in Malaysia.

“Through this partnership, we are investing in specialist cancer care where it is needed most while building on Avisena’s strong reputation in women’s health. Together with Icon Oncology Malaysia, we aim to deliver meaningful benefits for patients and their families across the Klang Valley,” he said.

Icon ASEAN chief executive officer Serena Wee said the partnership would improve access to cancer care closer to patients’ homes.

“At Icon, our purpose is to bring the best possible cancer care to more people, closer to home. This partnership combines Icon Oncology’s specialist expertise with Avisena’s trusted healthcare network to create a more connected and supportive experience for patients in Klang Valley,” she said.

She added that the centre would strengthen access to multidisciplinary care for women affected by cancer and support Icon’s expansion of cancer services across Malaysia and Asean.

Avisena Healthcare group chief executive officer Elina Nadia Omar said the centre builds on the group’s focus on women’s health.

“By integrating specialist oncology services into our broader healthcare ecosystem, we strengthen our ability to deliver more coordinated care, greater patient convenience, and improved continuity across the entire treatment pathway,” she said.

The operating agreement was signed by Omar and Wee, and witnessed by Ter Leong Yap and Avisena Healthcare founder and deputy chairman Dato’ Dr Omar Abd Hamid. The new centre is expected to start operations in September 2026.
