Dato’ Dr Omar
Abd Hamid

Dr Omar Abd Hamid graduated in medicine from the University of Malaya before pursuing further studies in hospital management at Southbank University, United Kingdom. He later obtained an MBA in Finance from the University of Ballarat, Australia.

He is the founder and former group CEO of Avisena Healthcare and currently serves as its chairman. Over more than three decades, he has played a leading role in transforming Avisena from a small shop-lot hospital into a growing private healthcare group. Throughout that journey, he guided the organization through financial crises, institutional change, expansion, and succession while remaining committed to delivering quality, patient-centred care.

Looking ahead, Avisena has set ambitious goals for the future. It aims to expand the existing hospital in Shah Alam to accommodate 418 beds, and plans new private hospitals in Cyberjaya (156 beds) within the next three years.

Dr Omar Abd Hamid is highly accomplished professional in the field of public and private healthcare, and has amassed extensive experience in management and entrepreneurship within the healthcare industry. His areas of expertise lie particularly in the private hospital business, Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM), Hospital Information System (HIS), and Home-based Healthcare Services.

In recognition of his entrepreneurship contributions, he received the prestigious “The Entrepreneur Award in Service Sector” by the Ministry of Entrepreneur & Development Malaysia in 2004. He was also a finalist in the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Malaysia 2019, in the Master Entrepreneur category.

Elina Nadia
Omar

A graduate of Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) from Deakin University, Melbourne, Elina began her professional career with HSBC Amanah Malaysia in 2010 as a Management Trainee. During her first year, she was responsible for managing Business Banking relationships, with a focus on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across various industries.

Throughout the majority of her tenure with HSBC, Elina was involved in managing and co-managing relationships and banking facilities for Corporate Banking clients, including public-listed companies, government-linked companies (GLCs), state-owned enterprises, as well as large local and international corporate groups.

She recently completed the Leadership in Medicine: Southeast Asia Program at Harvard Medical School, a programme designed to develop and equip emerging leaders in healthcare with the capabilities to drive meaningful transformation within the industry.

Currently, Elina oversees the business development and expansion of Avisena Specialist Hospital and other future expansion planning, where she plays a key role in supporting the organisation’s strategic growth and development.

Nur Azlina
Dato’ Johari

Nur Azlina Dato’ Johari was appointed to the Board on 28 June 2004 as a Non-Independent Non-Executive Director. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Business Studies and Information Technology from the University of Sheffield.

Nur Azlina started her career in 2002 as a Business Development Officer specifically in property development and management before moving on to play critical roles in strategic planning at Johawaki Group.

Besides being a Chief Transformation Officer, she also holds various directorships in Johawaki Group.

Datuk Fazlur Rahman
KMM Ebrahim

Datuk Fazlur Rahman KMM Ebrahim is our Independent Non-Executive Director. He was appointed to our Board on 29 September 2016. He graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration from Ohio University, United States of America in 1980.

Datuk Fazlur has 20 years of experience in banking, having served in Bank Bumiputra Malaysia Bhd in various capacities including managing the Kuala Lumpur main branch and heading the corporate banking division. He then became General Manager at Pengurusan Danaharta Nasional from 1999 to 2002. In 2003, he was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd.

In 2005, he joined Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd as Chief Operating Officer and in 2006, he joined Prokhas Sdn Bhd as Managing Director until his retirement in 2012.
